I downloaded and read his plan in 2001. It was very comprehensive and covered just about every topic that had...

The single dominant reason why cars are lasting longer these days is the lock-up torque converter and its companion the overdrive gear. Just about any car should be able to do over 100k miles with ease these days.

Why American manufacturers would allegedly design for 100k miles when the compebreastion is shooting for 200k miles just doesn't make sense.

I had an 89 Cavalier wagon with the 2 litre engine and auto transmission. I finally gave it away because I got tired of looking at it. Many, many miles and still solid as a rock. The only real negative was the paint that came off in sheets. But they all did that back then.

Chrysler does fine with cast iron engines, but how many of them are around today? Their aluminum head engines had some problems with blown head gaskets. I wonder if they ever got that straightened out?

Daniel That's not the weight of the vehicle. Kindly get a clue... - In September and October 2003, McClellan said he had spoken directly...

My Plymouth minivan (95) still rides comfortably and is very reliable. The wife and her business crew are going to take it this next week to a business tradeshow as vendors. They will carry half the inventory and all of the crew to the show in the ten year old van. We got our money's worth out of that vehicle years ago.

The point being that Chrysler has made some decent vehicles from time to time. The Neon isn't a bad car at all, if you have no illusions about its design function.
