sounding much like they were saying :
Sorry for the delay...
Couch potato culture 5168like they were saying : OK - that much is correct, when compared to a modern closed-loop managed injection system...
Firstly, Taz - be sure. They're not everybody's cup of Darjeeling. Go and have a go. Take an open mind. Don't go on a cold, wet day - you'll just get depressed. Go on a nice sunny day and open the roof.
Buy on body condition. As Ian said - look for a galvo chbuttis. There's not many that'll still be on the original chbuttis now anyway - so anything that is will almost certainly be heading for a rechbuttis (a grand or so)
The key really is the body. Most bits are available, but it's not easy to weld - it's very thin - and it does rot something awful. All the panels come off easily - but look carefully at the shell. Expect floor patches. Expect patches round the rear bumpstops and rear seatbelt mounts at the base of the C-pillar. Avoid bubbles coming through to the outside above the rear wings.
Mechanicals, electrics and trim are all *easy*.

Couch potato culture 51693-10 for running costs? That's nonsense! They are as cheap as chips! I'd say 8 or 9 out of 10 for costs, but 3 overall because or poor build, bad dealer, terrible performance, poor safety...
You can pay less and get something fundamentally good. You can pay more and get screwed rotten.
