3 accidents in a week

What is it about this time of year and road accidents? In the last week I have witnessed 2 accidents and come across a third just after it happened. Normally I can go for weeks without coming across an accident, so why now?

The first was last Friday. I was driving through a village with a 30 mph limit during the evening rush hour . Traffic was fairly busy on both sides of the road when a pickup truck went into the back of an estate car when the latter had to stop. It happened on the other side of the road, so I don't know the result but I heard the breaking of glbutt and crumpling of bumpers.

On Wednesday I parked in a city street at about 4pm. I noticed a taxi which had just pbutted me braking and indicating right. A car hit the back of the taxi. The driver got out but the damage was slight so they went on their way.

Today, about 4.30pm on a country road (NSL60) I came across an accident that looked like it had just happened. Fortunately it was on the other side of the road from where I was going. The road made a sharp 'S' around a wood and a car had failed to make it round the first part of the 'S' and ended up in the wood. The road was damp after earlier rain. The driver was still in his car and there were already quite enough people around to sort things out. The car was perched on top of the concrete base for one of the posts which supported the black and white arrows that warned of the right turn. The sign had been there when I drove the other way about an hour earlier.

All of these accidents happened during daylight in good weather. The first two happened on a dry road. The first two appeared to be the result of tailgating, I don't know what caused the third. Have I just been in the wrong place at the wrong time or are people more stupid at this time of year?

The sentence seems about right to me although my usual complaint about concurrent sentencing stands ie it's unjust - sentences should run concurrently. "JAIL...
