Scott M. Kozel
Hi, Scott, I remember you from crosspostings into dc.general from back in the DCFRA "Control Board" days.
A healthy two-party system is something we haven't really had in a long time.

I would hesitate to put a date on when our former two-party system changed into "something else", but if you'll recall "Alice in Wonderland" and those two characters Tweedledum and Tweedledee, you'll see that it's happened in other polities and other times. In my opinion, the present-day Democrats and Republicans differ about as much as did the two twins from Wonderland. They claim to be different, and if you look you'll see two of them, but they're essentially identical. On almost all matters, they have effectively the same positions. In some cases, this is okay and to be expected, for instance both the Republicans and the Democrats are for a strong national defense, or so they claim... neither has done anything to staunch the flow of millions of illegal aliens across the borders, for example, nor to do anything to actually improve our educational system.
Thus, we effectively have one political party with two factions, one of which claims to favor smaller government but which has actually promoted the largest-ever ballooning of government and the greatest degree of tie-ins between government and the corporatia which has been seen outside of Mussolini's Italy of the late 1930s. The other faction seems to be more overt about the ties between government and corporatia, but tries to put a more populist feel on their policies, by supporting handouts to the indigent if only to keep them out of the way of people who actually have jobs and are productive. Yet neither faction of this on political party have done much to actually reduce the numbers of people living in poverty, or improve their prospects for gainful improvement and social advancement.
I'm trying to raise interest in a new political party, that of the to log into the Wiki and leave some opinion, especially on issues that haven't been covered. I'd be particularly interested in some Radical Centrist thought on Transportation and Roads policy.
Regards,
