From and buttociated Press article by Allen G. Breed. "Police point their guns at the crowds and tell them to back off. The people take it as aggression. But when you look into these officer's eyes, there is real fear. Officers deserted their posts. Many of them lost everything but their lives to the storm, and they refuse to gamble those on a seemingly lost city." I've seen police departments do crowd control. Good commanders take care of their cops. They make sure that they have food and water and they rotate cops in and out of hot spots. They have reserves in case a problem breaks out. They make sure that the cops don't reach their breaking points. It sounds to me like the police command in New Orleans is completely indifferent to the well being of their own cops. It's no wonder some of the cops have walked off the job. John Mara
