Oliver Costich The reality of the situation is that it was allowed to get out of control by local authorities and now it will take time to get the situation back under control. If the locals do not help out getting thing back under control it will take a whole hell of a lot longer.

People like you sitting at your f***ing key board and not planning to be in the area doing stuff are part of the problem and not a part of the Solution. (I may self will be in the area in about a week or ten days from now helping our clients get their computer systems back on line.)

I have already purchased over 20 Generator sets, 30 replacement computers (not little PC's but big IBM Multi Processor multi parbreastionable business systems, and a couple of hundred personal computers, switches, routers, storage libraries, tapes, fiber channel disk drive arrays, microwave communications gear, and a lot other gear.

We have obtained 20 bare wall trailer houses and have been busy this week installing equipment in them so they can be immediately set up as mobile computer centers. I have acquired motor homes to tow them there and provide temporary housing for technicians and company IT people to stay at the sites. As soon as the trailer house is parked and blocked, the Generator will be unloaded and fired up, the systems will be checked out, company off site back up media will be loaded and the systems will be restored. When the microwave towers get put in we will be ready for the installation of communications.

We have arranged for temporary microwave towers to be setup for a communications relay for data transmission to undamaged telco sites that are up and running.

We have arranged with the telco sites to get our gear in their buildings so the microwave communications networks will interface with their fiber optic networks. This installation is going to involve sharing our installed band width with public telco carriers for general communications but that is the price that we are going to have to pay.

Hey it won't be fast but a lot of people are going to be helped by the need to get certain business back up and running.

The biggest problem came to light Friday at close of business when FEMA found out what we are doing and has informed us that they will need access to our computer systems and communications systems for thier Emergency use. The lawyers are now in discussion with FEMA to work out a sharing arrangement. I will be working on labor day in order to get put the final touches on the shipment of equipment to Mississippi and Louisiana as well east Texas to get our clients on back on line.

This is the hardest part of the job as I have to reserve sleeping, eating and fueling points for the truck and motor home convoys carrying our equipment to the various areas. I am also arranging for private security people to ride in the trucks and motor homes as well as providing convoy escort into the more violent areas.

So I would say I am more aware of the needs of the area than a stupid dumb f*** arm chair first responder who couldn't find his butt with both hands and a flash light.
