Not far enough. If it comes in at cat 5, it'll be cat 2 or 3 100 miles in. Isabel came thru here at a cat 1 and the damn power was off for about 10 days. This makes it still a disaster area, although its more just inconvenient than dangerous. But you want to be several hundred miles away so that its just a big wind, and you can wait for the word to go back while watching the tube in a nice cushy motel room (at 100 miles, they'll still all be full, and you'll be later than everyone else in getting to the area, too, so you probably won't get a motel at all, and maybe have to sleep in a shelter - ugh...) so you still should probably be aiming at Oklahoma City from a place like Houston.
Leaving from Houston before the rush, Oklahoma city would have been a few hours away, and out of harm's way. That damn thing is going to batter the heck outa NE Texas for days, they say, and Oklahoma City will be business as usual. That's where you want to be.
