Risk perceptionI am interested to hear how other drivers rank the relative risks of the following manoeuvres. Scenario is a...
Any deeper thoughts than that? Can you at least try? Something more than just views and "positions" formed upon the influence of those 15-to-30 second news clips? Is the world view, as reflected by your TV screen, correct? How deeply have you looked into the psyche of other people? What drives them, what motivates? Why do they do some very crazy things sometimes? Have you done anything crazy anytime in the past? Why? What exactly makes someone drink and drive, even knowing that he may get life in prison, if caught? Even if he has no need to drive at all. If only humans could think!
I saw the latest Star Wars movie with my 9-year old son recently. There's one meaningful lesson, missed by practically everyone, in that movie: there's a very tiny, almost invisible borderline between the good and the evil. A celebrated hero can become a monster following a short moment of hesitation. Random events in our lives affect us in strange, even weird ways. Many great, wonderful people become criminals. Our president is a criminal that has not been caught or convicted. Our previous president also. Almost everyone is a criminal, but only few have been caught (have you ever drive after having just a little too much to drink? Ever downloaded a copyrighted song, a picture, anything from the Internet, without paying for it? Trespbutted upon someone's property, ever hit somebody? Tried dope, but didn't inhale maybe?
Having understood this, we need to make sure we leave plenty of opportunities for the people to go back the other way: from evil to good. To get well, rehabilitate, get jobs, respect, opportunities, full citizens' rights. Responding with evil to evil always creates more evil. The entire world history is the proof. The present condition of our world is the proof also.
Are you sure you've never driven
