Not at all. It is counter-intuitive, however, so a lot of people have a tough time believing that it might be possible, unless...

how It's It is a very unusual car that gets better fuel economy at 65 than at 55. And there are no...

What FACT have I denied. I have tried to correct a bunch of idle speculation, unproven buttertions, and out and out bullpoo that you keep posting.

Answer these questions -

1- How do you measure your steady state 75 mph fuel economy? 2 - How do you measure your 65 mph steady state fuel economy? 3 - What is the scientific basis for your claim that the most efficient operating speed for an engine is 40% of the engine's redline? (and posting equally unsupported wishful thinking does not count). 4 - What is your definition of efficiency? 5 - Do you honestly believe that your engine is so much more efficient at 3500 rpm than at 2700 rpm that it can provide approximately 100% more power to go 75 mph (as opposed to 55 mph) and still get better gas mileage? 6 - Do you keep records of all your gasoline purchases? 7 - If this 40% factoid you keep promoting was true, why wouldn't the vehicle manufacturers gear the cars so that this engine speed corresponded to 55 mph (the maximum speed in the EPA test) so that they would get higher CAFE numbers? 8 - Why have the vehicle manufacturer's added overdrives and higher speed final drive gears to their vehicles over the last 30 years? If the 40% factoid was true, it seems like they should be going the other way (again to achieve the best CAFE numbers by increasing engine speed at 55 mph).

I cannot decide whether you are a troll, a nut, or a true believer who has deluded himself into believing the unbelievable. I'd really love a chance to drive your car and make careful measurement so I could show you the error of your ways. Unfortunately I don't think you are coming to North Carolina and I am pretty sure I can't get into NeverNever Land.
