A modest fuel saving proposal: no more than 3000 RPM 2363
Not at all. My current commuter is a 10-year-old Mitsu. Galant 5-speed. Don't let the "10-year-old" part...

Ted B. Ted aka Dave, that link shows the Galant 4 cylinder as being 2.3 liters (displacement rounded down?) and the mileage figures are: MPG (city) 23 MPG (highway...

Not far off. I like small cars, but I'd never buy a convertible. Well, maybe the S2000, because it's just so darn CUTE. Actually, its a 1995 Mitsu. Galant 2.4L I4 5-speed. I'm the original owner, the ONLY driver, and it still looks and runs like new. Maybe a little better than new, now that the engine is finally broken in. :) I've thought of trading it many times, but haven't been motivated enough to do it, because MOST of the time I've owned it, it was a weekend-only use vehicle. It's only managed to break 100K as the few years I've driven it regularly, it's been a long-distance commuter. The damn thing just won't die on me, so I'll probably have it for several more years yet. I'm looking for an excuse to get rid of it, but it just won't give me one. :) There are some things I don't like about it, and I probably wouldn't buy another Mitsubishi. But overall, it's been a pretty nice car. Now that gas prices are so high, I can NOT complain about fuel economy that ranges from 32 (at very worst) to 42 (easily attainable, if the cops leave me alone long enough) -Dave
