I followed a police a car for several miles along a SC A road until we reached a roundabout. He went all the way round and came along behind me.
We were then descending a hill with double white lines. A broken white line nearest with a continuous white line and then two lanes for uphill traffic.
He then put on his blue lamps etc. I continued at approx 60 mph and overtook the car in front which was travelling at about 50mph. The police car followed me. There was nothing at all coming the other way.
We got to a second roundabout where I turned left. As I'm going along this road (still SC NSL) I'm travelling at about 40mph or so to giv e this copper a chance to pbutt me, which he did. He then stopped in the road leaving me no room to pbutt.
He then got out and came to talk to me. He asked if I'd seen his blue lamps etc., which I had. He then starts going on about "careless or dangerous driving". So naturally I asked what had I done that was dangerous, given that I had been within the speed limit at all times and had caused no one any inconvenience when overtaking the car.
He thought that with him behind me, my overtaking manouvre had been "dangerous" and we had some discussion about that for a few minutes. He finally conceded that we were not going to agree so he let it drop.
He then got round to aking me why I hadn't stopped when he'd come up behind me. I told hem trhat there was nothing on the front of his car to indicate that it was me he wanted to talk to.
A new one!!! 5448Cant see where you said he was a long way back, but will buttume that he was...
After some further discussion he admitted that he'd not heard that "excuse" before.
And what hebious crime had I committed that warrented all this effort on his part?
Not wearing a seat belt!!!
So much for coppers being snowed under with paperwork.
A new one!!! 5449Root cause of some accidents: something completely out of the blue and pretty well impossible...
