Redlight camera troublea new day and another bit of trouble I've got myself into. Apologies beforehand for my bad directions here but bear with me. This is in Dorset...
I take the part two test on Tuesday - hope to pbutt first time as I have been redundent since 7 May.
Had an interesting practice drive in Luton today. I was approaching green traffic lights at a very busy crossroads. There were about 20 pedestrians waiting to cross on my side - I was in lane one. The car ahead had crossed the junction, but had left its rear over the box. As I slowed down, I realised this had the potential to get nasty.
I stopped at the green due to the blocked junction. The pedestrians started to cross in front of me, even though cars in lane two were still moving to turn right. The chap behind me started to sound his horn. The pedestrians had to stop in the middle of the road to allow cars to pbutt. The junction cleared ahead of me, but I couldn't move due to the pedestrians - the driver behind still sounds his horn and the pedestrians start to wave arms at him.
Amazing how a situation develops due to a complete lack of observation from both pedestrians and drivers.
It has been an eye opener observing other drivers as I practice reversing around corners, turns in the road and paralell parking. The manourver has to stop any time a moving hazzard pbuttes - this can be anything from a bike to a bus. Other drivers get so impatient when I have to stop to allow them to proceed or wait for me - I have never had so much abuse and impatience! God knows what it will be like with a learner!
Still, it has been fun after getting a RoSPA Gold and IAM pbuttes - the ADI part two seems harder to me because they are interested in following rules to the letter, rather than focusing on a safe and smooth drive. I was told my speed control was atrocious after one lesson - I was told I must maintain +-- 1mph to pbutt the test!!
