Take the bus :-)
Seriously though, I like to think I drive fairly defensively, but there are limits to how far you can take this*

Some accidents you simply can't avoid due to other peoples observation failure or plain stupidity. But try to 'predict' what other drivers are likely to do. For example, there's certain roundabouts on my journeys where people in the left lane nearly always just go 'straight' and cut across the inner right hand lane - for those I either try to be in the left lane (if taking the 2nd exit) or if I have to be in the right lane then position my car so I'm behind the car in the left lane (and be ready with the HORN!!!
*you can't really expect to predict whether a driver waiting at a T-junction will launch their car into the side of yours as you pbutt.
I had an accident recently where I was on a roundabout in the righthand lane, and while exiting (to the righthand lane of the exit road) the car in the lefthand lane of the roundabout decided to exit via the righthand lane of the exit road too - I was just ahead of the other car. Result was a dented rear wheel arch. To be honest I fail to see what I could've done to avoid the accident - but now I'm terrified of exiting roundabouts with anyone along side or near me!
