Accident question

They said "It's a bad junction, this is the fourth one so far this year" "We've asked the council to remove the hedge but it belongs to the farmer".

A 6'+ policeman stood at the approximate point where the drivers seat would be behind the Give Way and said "It's doesn't look too bad", to which a colleague of his suggested he crouch to a more appropriate height - "Oh".

I filled in the County Council's "report a road" web form today, fully expecting it to be filed in the round bit bucket. So it was a pleasant surprise to get a phone call this afternoon from someone in the Highways department who agreed with me that it's a dangerous corner^W^W less than optimal hedge and he thought my suggestion of replacing it with a wire fence to allow through visibility was an excellent one.

He said he lives near by and consciously takes the long route round to avoid that junction.

Apparently they can offer a contribution to the farmer towards the removal and fence costs but there's a whole stack of council planning and Defra red tape to get past first.
