fun weekendOK, due to circumstances I won't get into here, my wife was stranded in MD so I had to go get her on Friday. I decided to take...
Oh it was clearly a stop sign violation. You can easily rack up a stop sign violation even if you come to full stop, as you aren't legally allowed to GO again before traffic is clear and you have the right-of-way to do so. This girl clearly did not have the right-of-way. Nor did she wait for traffic to clear. So it was a clear stop sign violation.
Failure to yield? Yup, that's another charge that will stick.
Failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident? Well, I guess you could say that AFTER she racked up the stop sign violation by going when she didn't have the right-of-way and traffic wasn't clear, she then failed to reduce speed to avoid an accident by proceeding FURTHER into the intersection and crossing another vehicle's path. In other words, she could have stopped IN the intersection after entering the intersection illegally, but she clearly didn't do that.
I hope all the charges stick. They seem pretty appropriate to me.
Last week, I was following a Toyota Camry on a back road near Watertown, NY. The driver was using two hands to read a newspaper at ~50MPH. Yikes. -Dave
