Many companies do offer IAM discounts. They just dont advertise it well, if at all (if they do, it means insurance companies make less profit due to lower margins).

Adrian Flux - offer the Max Driver discount even if you didn't do it (but did go through IAM Skill for Life), it comes under IAM member approx 25% on youe renewal (if they dont ask you for your renewal, they will knock it off the cheapest quote they can find).

The AA's top guy is on the IAM's board of directors, there's usually 25% there if you ask for it, you certainly get it on AA membership, it counts on the insurance too.

The key thing you "must" do is get the quote first, then tell them you are an IAM member and Advanced Driver, you might be surprised to find they knock quite a bit off, every year, i've managed to get a min further £75 off my cheapest quote by getting an advanced driver discount.

If you ask them about discounts, before they have quoted you, you will always get a "err, whats that, we dont do that" or "probably not, never heard of it" and thats before they've given you a figure. Or, when you ask about it for a second time after you've previously mentionned, they'll say it's already included. Dont even think of asking until they have quoted you that way you can see the difference.

27 yrs old, Modified Vectra Club to look like an SRI (all mods declared), unlimited mileage policy (declared 25k a year), full NCB. IAM Discount 20%. £353.

Potentially the discounts are much more from IAM membership than from Pbutt Plus. Pbutt Plus also only counts on your first years NCB when the cost will be high anyway. The total of discounts on my insurance I have had from my IAM Membership has paid for at least a years insurance on my current car (which I have had for 4 years).
