If you do go for the Advanced driving route let us know how you get on. There are two main groups you can do it with. The IAM or RoSPA. The RoSPA is grade (Gold, Silver, and Bronze), is supposed to be a higher standard, and requires renewel every 3 years IIRC, but with the IAM it's only a pbutt or fail, and doesn't need renewing.
Both courses are based around the 'Road Craft' book. You can also get a video of the book too. Before starting I had learned pretty much all of it from the book. However I don't think many (if any) drivers would be upto the advanced standard without the extra knowledge in these books. To improve your observation do a commentry (name every road sign, and hazard etc.).
I'm doing the IAM course, and don't agree with everything that I am being told. After reading road craft the main change that I have needed to make is just a small change to my speed. However I have found that my nerves did make me take a few steps back when people are watching.
Advance driving courses opinions 1430Uno Hoo! formulated the question : Kev.... I was taking these lines through bends long before I took my driving test or had even heard of Roadcraft. To me it was obviously the way...
I would definately recommend advanced training to every driver! If you ever have questions about any part of advanced driving there will always be people here to give you an answer.
