Another 'Speeding fine lie' conviction

Right... I'll try to be a little less insulting. Firstly I'm talking generally rather than about my own specific case - I've usually got a bloody good idea about what my speed is, though I'll admit that I *do* find myself having a quick glance or two at the speedo whilst pbutting a gatso... Too many other drivers who seem to blunder along in a stupor appear to (a) jump on the brakes, then (b) gaze at the speedo to the exclusion of all else - I've seen too many tail-enders at gatso sites for this just to be random chance...

The point that I'm trying to make about the "distraction" aspect is that it's only at camera sites that most drivers find themselves effectively "obliged" to look at the speedometer. In every other circumstance you can wait for a "dead period" before checking the instruments, or the mirror - and that check can be postponed if something "more important" crops up. I get the impression that "not getting nicked" rates fairly high on the "importance" scale.

SteveH No, it's at least one up from poverty. Poverty specs don't have electric windows! Well, I have found many things...

A goodish percentage of drivers appear to have sufficient difficulty driving a 6 foot wide vehicle between lines painted 10 feet apart... Adding the necessity of observing additional specific street furniture and checking their speedometers as a consequence isn't doing anything to make them safer. :-( -- and don't bother with ralf4, it's a spamtrap and I never go there.. :)
