Another Rant:Traffic Enforcement Hypocrite Du Jour

Seems to me that Phil Collins could have been very well singing about traffic enforcement cops when he sang the lyrics "God will take good care of you... Just do as I say, don't do as I do..."

Anyways I'm on my evening walk and I'm walking on the sidewalk paralleling a wideish city street (one lane on this road is about 1.5 times the width of a typical lane with one lane for each direction) going in and out of residential and medical areas. At one intersection to my right and across the street is what appears to be a drug deal going down. To my left and about a block down the street is a "traffic enforcement," unit of the Brunswick Police Department writing some poor sap a revenue... errrrr... traffic ticket.

Moving along, about 5 minutes later as I am walking past the local hospital (bit of foresahadowing, maybe??) this same cop's car goes flying down the same street at a speed I would estimeat is well above the posted limit for the that particular street (which is 25MPH, BTW). My basis for saying that he just might have been somewhat over the SL is that his engine sounded like it was at the red line as he went by where I was walking. And headed toward a heavily residential area. He eventually made a right turn onto a main thourofare and that was the last I saw of him. And before I forget, no lights and no siren.

Lucky for the children that live and play in this area that it was a rather cold damp evening and they were all inside....

And before any cops here go offering any excuses for this guy, I don't want to hear them. If this cop's call was so damn important that he has to drive like that through someone's neighborhood, then he can damn well use the lights and sirens to warn innocent people that he is comming through. If this guy can't obey the law, he shouldn't be enforcing the law. And for him to be writing a traffic ticket and then to do this is nothing if not hypocritical on his part at the least.
