Hi!
Pooh Bear
Yes.
Diesel Pbuttat estates-wagons are the ISO standard cop car here in North Germany:
But that's different from region to region -- most federal states seem to prefer cars made by companies from that state (although I don't think there are that many police VW Phaetons in Dresden ;-). BMWs, Mercedeses, and Audis are quite common in their respective states though, as well as in states that don't have any car makers of their own. E-clbutt, anyone? 5-series? A6?
Police SUVs I've only seen pulling police horse trailers so far. Most of those were Opel Fronteras (which is a rebadged Isuzu I think):
More usually, if a Pbuttat-sized wagon is too small, they use VW Eurovans:
Older vehicles are rather rare, but they do exist. For instance, last year I saw a police VW Golf A2 (which was last built in 1991 or so):
Such small cars are rather atypical even for German police though. But I think that's changing slowly now. Berlin police use quite a lot of these Opel Corsa econoboxen:
Which are still quite roomy compared to this:
But at least the latter aren't used as regular patrol cars. Yet.
