It's much cheaper than petrol, but lose a bit of power. You still have a petrol tank, so it's great for driving when you might not be able to fill up for hundreds of miles (think fuel protests, deserts etc.). The conversion is expensive. People don't trust dodgy 3rd party conversions, so get a good one with all the certificates. LPG is dangerous if mishandled, as it is heavier than air and is invisible, so collects in nice explosive pockets when leaked.

Many people don't like not having a spare wheel. Not me. My vehicles have all got underslung spare wheel carriers, but they don't have underslung spare wheels, thanks to scavvy pikey b*stards who have stolen any wheels so mounted within a few months of obtaining the car. I now have a can of Tyreweld instead.
The channel tunnel won't accept LPG yet (not sure about the ferries). People also think that as soon as they buy one, the government will double the tax, leaving them stranded. This means that only seriously high mileage people generally take the risk, as they're only exposed to a possible loss for a few months until they've paid back the conversion. They're good for London Congestion Charge, too.
