Well, almost. ;)
Yesterday afternoon I was at a red light on a surface street. I was in the right lane; the left lane was clearly signed "left lane closed ahead." There was an Asian Female in a gold Mercedes sedan in the pole position; to her right was an SUV. I was directly behind the SUV. When the light turned green, the AF accelerated at a pace matching the SUV, staying right next to it, displaying no turn signal and making absolutely no attempt to merge out of the closing lane despite the many orange cones clearly visible ahead.
At the last possible moment, the AF realizes that she has run out of lane, slams on her brakes, and cuts the wheel hard to the right, coming to a complete stop halfway into the lane. The SUV swerved slightly but didn't get hit. I and the vehicles behind me, on the other hand, were forced to stop while she figured out what to do.
Good think Corvettes have excellent brakes. I'd say there was less than 1 foot between my front bumper and her rear pbuttenger door.
After a few moments of looking around, she finally decided it was safe to proceed. The irony is that nobody is safe when idiots like this are on the road...
