I've seen no evidence to the contrary, so YES, that is my current belief. True story . . . I dated a swimsuit model many years ago. When I met her, she proudly proclaimed that she was an atheist! At first I took her at her word, because who would lie about that? (and why would they?) That fascinated me, as I'd never met someone so HOT looking with such strong anti-"God" leanings that she would proudly proclaim her religion to be atheism. So I had a long (over several days) discussion with her about "atheists". I really wanted to know more about her religion. Long story short . . . I found out she was not a religious person AT ALL, that she wasn't sure whether "God" existed, but didn't believe "God" existed, as she'd never seen any evidence that "God" did exist. As far as "God" existing goes, she didn't believe that it could ever be proven, either way, but she was very skeptical (to say the least) of the concept of a "god" ever existing. Through her relationship with me, she eventually realized that she was actually agnostic, as opposed to atheist.
It is possible to be agnostic and state that you believe "God" does not exist. I don't blame you for being confused, though, as even some agnostics are confused!!! There are different beliefs even among agnostics. There are some who don't believe in the concept of a "god", and there are others who are skeptical of the concept of "God", but don't care to give it any thought beyond "'God' probably does not exist".
If we were discussing breakfast . . . the Christians might say that they believe in Frosted Flakes the atheists would state with absolute certainty that Frosted Flakes do not exist! and some agnostics would say that they believe Frosted Flakes don't exist, because nobody can prove that cereal even exists -Dave
