What gets me is this.
If you take a gun and you go point it at someone or you use it to get away, the police have the right to shoot you dead. Thats one gun, capable of killing one person at a time buttuming its not a machine gun and the danger is confined to an area immediately around said gun..
BBC1 Traffic Cops 42Initially at least, that isn't *strictly* true. When you start to drive, you're not individually buttessed because you have no record. So...
Now take a car, capable of killing and maiming people by the dozen, and the cops will chase it at great danger to the public for miles upon miles until it either stops or crashes etc. The danger is a lot more than if it were a gun and is not confined to a single area or locality.
Question: Why do the police not just shoot the bloody driver once he is in an area that such could be done - for example, close the section of motorway he is on so that the only damage is to the runaway driver and car and perhaps a few motorway furnishings. Obviously the driver needs to be warned first and clearly to protect the police, the whole lot needs to be filmed. Obviously this solution could not be done where there are other possible "innocents" in the runaway vehicle.
Also, the penalties need to be harsher for those who are caught and personally if I found anyone taking my stuff, if I could get away with it I would take em somewhere where the screams could not be heard and chop a couple of fingers off* and then give em the first aid kit - but back to reason -- some of the penalties handed out are a joke - banned from driving for 12 months - as if that will stop em!!!!
(* chopping fingers off would be a good source of supply for hospitals as well for those who get their fingers cut off accidentally!)
BBC1 Traffic Cops 41Does it matter? In *this* circumstance, it probably wasn't, but how could the police know this for sure...
BBC1 Traffic CopsShowers are a nice-to-have. I've only had the option of using one in one place of work - but that was 11 miles each way. I only needed...
