Does it matter? In *this* circumstance, it probably wasn't, but how could the police know this for sure? But anyway, this issue goes beyond this particular pursuit. Why do they run? They could be drunk. They could be loaded up with drugs-stolen items-dead bodies-atom plant. So obviously they run, police let them go, hoping it wasn't stolen so they can catch up with them later, which by then, they're sober and-or offloaded the stuff they'd rather the 'filth' didn't see, i.e. no conviction other than a slap on the wrist for running for reasons that will never be known. Hence, got away with it, pretty much scot free!

I'm sorry, but you're displaying so much naivety on this, it's hart to take you seriously.

What happens while my car is not in my possession is beyond my control. So while I would be upset that innocents are hurt in a collision - just as I would any collision involving my car or not - I would be laying the blame squarely on the shoulders of the piece of scum behind the wheel of *my* car, not the police who were following him...

I would however, prefer not to get the car back. I would much prefer whoever took it wraps it and himself around a tree in a spectacular fireball. I'd consider that my car died for a good cause, dishing out some instant and fitting justice.

Sounds very simple, doesn't it? But what you're suggesting goes way beyond whether police should participate in pursuits or not - It goes right to the heart of the principles of British law.

Does it really surprise you that no-one can take you seriously with the stance you've displayed up to now? You proclaim the way it is is somehow wrong, but you offer nothing of any substance regarding any subsbreastute. Everyone's enbreastled to an opinion, but what's it worth if it's uninformed, poorly thought out, and offers no alternative conclusions?

Initially at least, that isn't *strictly* true. When you start to drive, you're not individually buttessed because you have no record. So *you* are not higher...
