I think you brought it in with you.

I have yet to see a long drawn out thread where there is more than you on your side of the argument... which is fine if you have something other than just a complaint to make.

Yes we'd *all* rather the Police didn't occasionally hit people when chasing the bad guys. And for the number of chases they do and the provocation they get from joyriders out to get chased for fun they do very well at not hitting innocents.

But without rolling over and letting them do what they want when they want the chases *have* to happen.

Because there will always be the people who need to be taken off the streets.

Technology is catching up, but slowly. Some areas (city centres, some 'sink estates' etc.) have sufficient cameras and staff that cars can be tracked from a safe distance, but that typically makes the scum go elsewhere.

The only way to wipe it out completely is a total Police state, checkpoints, constant air cover, electronic IDs on every car *and every driver*, that sort of thing.

The alternative to that is to find a balance where in general the baddies get caught and you minimise the risk to the innocent bystander. Which is where we are at now.

Which bit of the scale would you rather we aimed for?
