"British Motoring Wanker" if the behaviour of a black BMW people-mover, registration "7 DK" yesterday is anything to go by - I was overtaking on a dual carriageway at 70 MPH and this wanker - there is no other suitable word to describe him - a silver haired man who was old enough to know better - came roaring up behind me at a speed that I estimated to be in excess of 100 MPH and sat DANGEROUSLY close, one car length's distance behind at 70MPH. I motioned him back in response to which he CLOSED THE GAP. I started to slow down for safety, there was no other possible course of action. (Such a gap would be dangerous at 20MPH; the Highway Code suggests at least 18 car lengths at 70MPH)
He then subjected me to 25 miles of road-rage - pulling up close behind me, in response to which I slowed down for safety, only speeding up again when the distance between us was rendered safe - but he kept closing the gap, at one point putting his head-lights on full beam to dazzle me (He was successful, I had no choice but to slow down further)
At one point he overtook me, cut in sharply and applied the brake - why bother to overtake if you're going to brake?
His behaviour was repeatedly dangerous and menacing, and when I slowed to 40 mph, he kept pace with me, which begs the question as to why he was haring along at a break-neck speed in the first instance if his urgency had now disappeared because someone had criticised him?
Several times he pulled alongside me and kept pace, even annoying the other drivers in the outside lane when I reduced speed to 30MPH to let him past.
Wally of the WeekMight I hereby award the Wally of the Week award to the man who, whilst I was travelling along...
All this took place on a dual carriageway where he would have had no difficulty in pulling past me and continuing with his high-speed journey.
The We'll pooe (All Over You) Conplodulary should take an interest in the driver of "7 DK" - anti-social, criminal, childishly attention-seeking and dangerous -he'd make an ideal recruit to their ranks without further interview.
