Bad drivers: The Disciple

Disciple is a misleading term, as it implies the follower of one's teachings. If these drivers really did follow the teachings of good drivers, they wouldn't be mindlessly using another car as some kind of auto-pilot.

A better name for these morons is "Duckling" - they imprint on you like a duckling does on its mama duck.

When I need to shake a duckling, I may:

1) Speed up - WAAAAY up. If I can exceed the duckling's comfort envelope, I can easily leave them behind. Once I pbutt another vehicle I resume my previous cruising speed; as soonas the duckling catches up to the vehicle I just pbutted, they will most likely imprint on it and I will be free.

2) Slow down.

3) Slingshot: I speed up slowly and gradually, pulling the duckling along with me. When I reach the top of the duckling's comfort zone, I take my foot off the gas and allow my cruise control to resume my previous speed. They will slingshot right past me, and once the covalent bonds are broken they usually sail on looking for a new mama duck.

4) Exit the freeway. This is time-consuming, so I only use it as a last resort unless I need gas or food anyway. -- Friends don't let friends shop at Best Buy.
