Unfortunately I can't resist taking the bait. Here in California driving the speed limit (when the flow is going faster) in the left lane is just as illegal as speeding. The signs that say "SLOWER TRAFFIC KEEP RIGHT" are rectangular and black on white because they are a statement of the law, not an advisory.
And while doing something illegal in retaliation is certainly wrong, why shouldn't I have rage at someone deliberately committing an illegal act aimed directly at me?
There are all kinds of reasons that the "slower traffic keep right" (regarless of speed) makes sense including the dangers caused by relative speed differences, and the congestion and dangers caused by clumping of traffic.
I don't think a speeder is a highway person... but if they are then breaking the law to be in their face is certainly a person act as well.
Frankly the lack of enforcement of "slower traffic keep right" really peees me off... I see people going well under the speed limit in the left lane (not many, but just one messes up the flow and forces people into extra lane changes--adding a bit of extra danger).
Frankly I think driving courteously is the most important safety tip. Instead you're advocating breaking the law to pee people off--a clbuttic pbuttive aggressive sort of rage. You've practising road rage yourself--just in denial about it.
btw, I was recently struck by a red light runner. Luckily I was wearing my seat belt, but it sure ruined my day. It really didn't matter whether she was going the speed limit or not. Did I yell and scream at the idiot woman who just came within a few feet of killing me? No, I was thankful that she and her kids were uninjured.
Let's just drive respectfully and courteously and safely okay? Save the rage, aggression and pbuttive aggression for the Usenet. =)
