this computer. I use it regularly, mostly for in-car navigation.

Compared to my 1993 Newton Message Pad, it's a dog. Yes it has colour, yes it has a faster processor, but it crashes over and over again. Remarkably compared to WM2003, it's handicapped with fewer applications, less functionality in the office applications (can't open any of the 2003 documents with sound embedded in them for example, nor any of the 2003 documents with drawings). I ended up getting TextMaker for it because at least it works.

Steve Firth which one is it ? whaddayagot ? or is this another brimstone situation ? how strange. I have 2 WM5 devices and neither of them...

However as noted, unless one takes care to stop all application at the end of every day, when you wake up the batter will be flat. If you don't stop applications on a regular basis it will run v e r y S L O O O O O O W.......

And eventually no matter what you do it will hang, and frequently when it does so it trashes the CF card or the SD card or both.

That wouldn't matter so much if Active Sync worked but since it is another flaky crash pile heap of crap, that's an academic point.

Despite many attempts, Orange have never managed to get the device to provide WAP or internet access of any kind and I think I'd be better off with a Blackberry or preferably a Nokia which in my experience just works reliably day, day out. I revived the 6310i recently, what a bloody revelation. Battery life of a week, does phone-text without too much thought, connects to a PC via bluetooth without falling over and provides relatively fast access to my email using Thunderbird or indeed any mail client.
