hahahhaha, I was waiting for some numpty to ask that and how appropriate that it's from a numpty who doesn't even use sat nav. here comes the answer:
I want to take a diffenet route to the one I usually use A614 - A1 - A66 and one that avoids other motorways and pbuttes certain places on the way there and on the way back AND I want to avoid certain parts of the road system.
I might also change my mind as to destination and-or go up a different route, depends on the amount of cars parked up as to it being a crowded route, see ?
PLUS, the other day I was driving along a road I sort of know and lo and behold some workies were digging it up, road blocked, follow diversion, huge queue. I clicked find alternative route and POW new feature called drive round roadblock or summat. I chose the 100 yards option and tomtom routed me around the blockage AND the diversion. when I exited past the roadblock the car which was in front of me was still about 18th in the queue. marvellous !
