If that is the case - and I will stipulate for the sake of argument - then bicycles are held to the same set of operating statutes as motor-driven vehicles, unless you also insist that there is some compelling cause for special exemption.
That's not the fact at all. I drive some 1500 miles per week, about 75% urban and suburban, and I notice bicyclists constantly. Constantly riding between or beside auto lanes in congested traffic, in the same fashion as some jerk motorcyclists. In truth, I think I have *never* seen a bicyclist observe proper lane usage approaching an intersection in traffic. I could count on one hand the number of bicyclists I have seen in the past year stopped for a stop-sign or traffic light without a steady stream of cross-traffic blocking their path -- absent said cross-traffic, the sign or lights are ignored. In summer, I routinely encounter groups of cyclists on suburban or country roads, one lane each way, where the group will be thoroughly blocking the lane at a speed of 10-15 mph, while the ambient traffic flow is trying to run at about 40.

No, sir -- for you to say that bicyclists don't even make an impression shows that you are firmly entrenched in a fantasy world of your own design.
