Knight Of The Road
Breakdown cover 709Lol that sort of thing used to be my philosophy, when I was a teenage driver. I once drove home from Aberdeen in the winter with no main beam...
Now you come to mention it I remember them about mid seventies and the box was a roadranger but Sed-Ak didn't get it together to sort the change pattern out, they still had the atbreastude that we are British, we are truck manufacturers, we know what you want, just give us your money, This was about the time when Scania and Volvo started to kick the British truck industry in the bollox.
Slightly earlier with the same mind set was the Foden 9 speed plus overdrive, this was a true nightmare fitted in the later Mickey Mouse Fodens. (F80 I seem to recall)
I ceased to be an owner driver in 1986 and now as a pensioner I only drive odd days for local companies when (increasingly) they can't find drivers. It's a different ball game from my first journies, I did my first Middle East trip in 1968 plus 1.
Then in the Iveco that was a Fuller 13 (or 9) speed either on the 260hp six or the 420 v8.
Agreed
I have, good box.
It was said that mastering a Fuller (and Eaton, same company) sorted out the drivers from the boys.
