Brent's going to love this... 3747The government as of yet is having a difficult time just taking firearms away from the people. So they are making so many laws and such that mistakes send people to prison...
No; let me clarify that. I am a lawyer who believes *no lawyer* is superior to you "common folk". In fact, a lot of 'em are outright idiots. But then, the same can be said of "common folk". So let's get over your 'profession-based' strawman and cut the crap. I'm a guy of firmly held opinions like the rest of you. I *happen to be* a lawyer. So what? Maybe I've read the Consbreastution a few more times. I've definitely written papers on consbreastutional rights more often. I've also probably rebuilt BMW E28 suspensions more often, which is equally relevant here. So where does this pointless "superior" bullpoo come from? You - and only you.
Yeah; that would be somebody else, too. Maybe some such grad in the White House who understands why it's legal for the Kommander-In-Chief to wiretap American citizens without warrants and a poor schmuck like me who had to pay his own way through night law school in Akron, Ohio, doesn't.
Me neither; but you were sure doing a fine job of it.
Well, I hacked out all the quotes except this one. Partly because it's the only one to truly post-date the invention & production of weapons that are now prohibited to most Americans. And partly because of its last four words.
I agree that there's a huge problem in maintaining a militia of any kind *without* the government involved. Just try developing your own militia and tell the government, "It's only for when you screw up," and see what happens. Even a well-coordinated and relatively well-funded organization like the Confederate States of America failed, so maybe we *ought* to revisit the Second Amendment in light of that. I'll tell you this: if my militia wanted to start a march on Washington to kindly ask that faux cowboy to leave the White House, I'd be packing now. The ol' Ithaca hammerless might not pack a lot of punch, but two 12 gauge barrels look mighty threatening and black powder puts out a *lot* of smoke!
However, I have a bigger problem with all the frothing Second Amendment fanatics who prefer to *ignore* that fact while maintaining their *absolute* right to own any damn kind of firearm they please - for themselves. There's hardly a one of them that has ever even slightly considered taking on the government. However, it is their *permissiveness* that has allowed every cheap criminal to *obtain* crappy weapons that would be totally useless in any attempt to overthrow an oppressive government (the *reason* we're supposed to have them - *not* for self-defense against criminals) but that function just fine in capping innocent fellow citizens. So they want to twist the original intent of the Second to say that the real reason we get weapons is to shoot back at the criminals. That's why the CCW bill of sale has been sold in so many crime-ridden states. Well, I'm not buying it. Apparently, neither is my state. The most recent attempt to allow CCW in Wisconsin was vetoed by the governor and an override attempt failed. Maybe you want to check our crime rate before you start *shooting* off your mouth. -- C.R.
