I am saying that is the logic you present. Since we cannot stand up to the US military, we might as well have our ability to own weapons limited or even severely limited. That's not a valid arguement IMO.

So it's a just a 'you're like those nut balls' arguement. Well like I stated before, I don't even want a gun. Not even a little handgun... well maybe some mechanically interesting antiques, but for the same reason I'd have an old motorcycle, because it's mechanically interesting to me. However the actions of the government and people who want to take away my right to keep and bare arms have me seriously considering buying firearms. Has been that way for awhile.

If you want to talk wiretaps, I wonder why everyone is so up and arms about it when GWB has done it on much more limited scale as far as I can tell than past presidents. I object to it all, but I have to wonder why people are taking offense now and what their actual motivation is.

You are getting pretty far afield here. But how are we the people going to stop a government that can crush us? That's the logic you presented.

In the past government has listened on such things without warrant. I don't understand why people think this is new. A few years ago when I would mention such things I was called paranoid, delusional, crazy. I was the crazy person who knew what the government does today to the people you don't like it can do to you tomorrow. I was told that if I had nothing to hide I didn't have to worry. Actually I am still told that a lot, just a lot less because much of what I've said has come to pbutt.

I'm glad people are getting on board, but I fear it's only because a republican is in the whitehouse and all they will do is replace him with democrat and then go back to sleep.

Just maybe they will stay awake. Maybe they'll keep in mind that data mining is a threat to us and realize that having government and corporations log everything we do isn't a good idea. I can hope.

You should be familiar enough with my posts by now that I am concerned with all of them. However most of them have fallen already. Before we can get the others back, we need to stop losing them. The government is essentially working from 10 to 1. The government is roughly, with some exception currently at 2. If we can stop the government at 2, we might be able to make progress to recovering the rest.

I would think you'd have a better understanding of where I stand than that by now. Have I ever even given a hint that I approach things in that binary manner? I've been called everything from far left to the far right on usenet. I am consistantly in favor of liberty. The binary system in the USA is about people's personal preferences on what they want to see controlled.

I think the government consists of an effective single political party that is essentially burning the candle at both ends. The two so called parties' actions fit together like puzzle pieces that continually remove liberty from the people and act to increase the power of government.
