I haven't been following this, or I forgot the point. However, Jaybird, you need to stop and listen to what people here are saying.

Brent is not against cops stopping people for violations. He may be against laws that violate our consbreastution, and speak out about cops stopping people for laws they know are invalid.

He is against cops using illegal laws to stop people with no intention of doing anything about the actual excuse they used to stop the person. Thus when, as we discussed here recently, a cop stops someone for a violation of any kind, does not ticket the person for that, but either does or does not engage in illegal searches as a result of that stop, we are all opposed.

Please keep in mind that legal in this country has a very specific definition. Pbutting a law does not make something legal or illegal. What makes something legal or illegal is the consbreastution, and whether the law is within the bounds of that document. Your local congressman could pbutt a law stating that anyone who owns a home is committing a clbutt A felony. Owning a home would not be illegal, the law would be in violation of the consbreastution. Just because cops would go out and arrest people for owning a home, and just because they would spend time in jail, does not mean they broke the law. When the courts throw out the convictions, the final point will be they broke no law.

You can't judge legality on whether cops do something or not.
