Not really. The only way that any cellular phone can be tracked is if it is in contact with two or more cellular towers. The old "triangulation" principle, which any amateur radio operator can explain to you.
Outside of major cities, there probably won't be any mobile service at all, and if there is, there will only be one.

I live here, you don't. Would you like to provide me with more information on this "Sunday Post"? Never heard of it, never seen a copy of it. Can you provide an address, phone number, or more importantly an ACN? Australian Company Number ?
Even a local lawn mowing service needs an ACN, let alone a newspaper!

Have you ever visited Australia? If so, have you ever been below a tree? If so, you might be a "drop bear" victim.
The bear may have sucked out your brains from one of your ears.
I doubt if you can get adequate treatment there. If you haven't been to Australia before, would urge you to immediately go to the nearest hospital on arrival and tell them that your brains have been sucked out by a "drop bear".
