No, nobody's asking for a two month buffer. Nobody's stopping it being at annually either.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA RRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG HHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Can't you read? How many Speed Cam Penalty Notices go to Court 1335
Uno Hoo! ...speed selection independent of limits... I use my mirrors, I use my eyes. I see lots of people doing three figure speeds. ...competently and responsibly. Lots of folks brake for...

If I do the MOT now, I get a cetificate which expires 5 Nov 2006. If I did the MOT on the 5th of Oct, I get one which expires 5 Nov 2006. If I did it on the 4th Oct I get one which expires 4 Oct 2006.

What Adrian etc would like is for the 4th Oct one to expire on the 4th of Nov 2006. Not the 5th, the 4th. I could phrase it as "If an MOT is performed before the expiry of the previous one, the expiry date is the earlier of 13 months hence and one year from the expiry of the previous one".

Or if he'd done on the 4th of June 2005 (ie rather early, since the previous MOT covers up to 5 Nov), for the expiry to be 4 July 2006.

If he did that, the car could have had MOTs 5 Nov 2004, 4 Jun 2005, 4 July 2006, which is more than annually - in fact better than the annual check you require.

I think pretty much everybody on this thread knows the current rules. (Which is why it's bizarre that people (Brimstone) keep reposting them - they're not adding anything).

However some people are a) pointing out a slight oddity of the current implementation, and b) saying how a slight rule change would correct this oddity.

cheers, clive
