Buying a new car 1780

I CASH.

Very bad move. Dealers hate cash buyers. Not only does it mean that they've lost their kick-back from a lender, it's a giveaway that you're not likely to buy any of the other high-profit stuff like a warranty, or WAOs (worthless add-ons).

even exact

Another bad move. They know that you are too committed to a specific vehicle.

I saw red flags on these points, Dave: This peees them off--it means they won't get extra on...

Yes, they always do this. You're lucky that they didn't pull the key trick on you too (did you have a trade-in?). This is where they "lost" the keys to your trade-in while it was being appraised.

Did you copy that off of GOPUSA.com? If you really believe that the tar sands in Canada can replace the crude being used on a daily basis in this country, then you are sorely mistaken...

No offense, but this is not true.

impossible to buy a new car.

Car dealers love people that think they are informed, but that are not. They laugh at the people that come in with spreadsheets and invoices, and detailed calculations, because it gives them an opening to argue.

You NEVER let on that you are informed (or that you think you are). You NEVER say you are paying cash. You NEVER let on that you are only interested in a specific vehicle with specific options, in a specific color You NEVER say in advance that you won't be buying fabric guard, paint guard, digital ashtrays, etc. You NEVER argue about the bogus fees, such as the ad fee, doc fee, etc, you simply deduct them in advance from your offer. You nod understandingly when they tell you how much money they are losing on the deal.

small profit

This depends on the dealer. I've certainly never come across a dealer like this. They would of course rather sell every vehicle at a huge margin, with financing, warranty, etc. But on the other hand, their kickbacks from the manufacturer, and their allocation of high demand vehicles, depends on their sales volume. So the Honda dealer is going to sell a gazillion Civics and Accords, if he can, so he can get more Odysseys and Pilots.
