On reflection I do think that the taxi driver is partly responsible. Yes, he was only doing his job and I expect many drivers would have done the same in leaving him after his money ran out.

However, it was the taxi driver that decided to take him as far as the money went, if I'm reading the article correctly at least. The victim didn't ask the taxi driver to do this.

It still doesn't change the fact that the first driver in the Shogun didn't stop means that a large portion of blame should be placed on his shoulders. If I was driving along, heard a big bang and noticed my wing mirror had fallen off I would definitely stop and take a look. I'd pull up straight away at the side, stick my hazards on and perhaps a warning triangle and investigate.
