While I may be a "fat guy" on a bike I'm lucky enough to have a very good looking wife. She is far from "stupid" (she's in the Air Force and repairs computers) and she was willing to go on rides with me while we are in Alaska but now that we are in Virginia she won't do it. Do you know why? It's because of all the stupid stuff idiots in cars do. I used to be able to spend a fun day with my wife but due to all the stupid cagers around here those days are gone. Thanks.
So instead of guiding them and making sure they get proper training you would rather kick them out of the house and let them learn the hard way? My dad rode bikes as I was growing up. He tried the "this is my house and you are not going to own a motorcycle as long as you live here" routine with me. I went behind his back and bought a bike that I kept at a friends place. So I was riding around on the streets with no insurance and no training on how to be careful while riding. When my dad found out about the bike do you know what he did? Instead of grounding me and sticking his head in the sand he sat me down and we talked about bikes and how to be safe. He wasn't happy that I was riding a bike on the streets but if I really wanted to do it so bad he thought it would be best if he made sure I had some guidance. I think I learned more stuff the right way from my dad then I would have had I had to go it alone. We lived in the Clearwater-St. Pete area of Florida so traffic was really bad, especially with old drivers that could not see too well. Thanks to my dad I was able to survive those years of riding without being end by a cager. While I had several close calls I was never in an accident thanks to my dad.
