i think this was the one i am thinking of...i am unlikely to use that road for a while now so i wont find out less i get a ticket!

when travelling up from the M3 (to visit ppl in north london) when I get to Junction 2 I have 2 choices to get to CHISWICK ROUNDABOUT (to go onto A406)
Or try M3 to end, then A316, to Hogarth Roundabout then to the first part of the A4 to Chsiwick roundbaout.
Now the recommended route I get from people who live up in London is the M25-M4 but it has been suggested its better to use the A316 route... esp as you avoid the crappy M25.
AA route planner tells me
M25 route is 17.4 miles and should take 19minutes A316 is 18 miles but should take 28minutes!
What do you think is quicker? I would say the M25 is probably *easier* as its all chunky roads but I dont like the variable limits - on first look at a map the A316 looks much quicker. but you have to account for the 40mph limit
The A316 is very quiet compared to the M25 (was yesterday anyway) and I dont midn the speed limits as long as everyone is doing it and you just follow the traffic)
