Yes. While a 17 year old HS student, Laura Welch (to be Bush) was distracted while talking to a friend and ran a stop sign at 50 MPH in her old beat up mid-50s model Chevy and plowed into a car driven by the captain of her high school's football team, who was driving a (seat belt-less) Corvair convertable. He was thrown from the car and died of a broken neck. That was in 1963.
Varrious Loonie Left theories have spun from that. The simplest being that Laura got some kind of break from the cops due to her position in life. The problem with that being that the Welches were middle clbutt people who had no position of influence, and she would not meet GWB until years later. In rural Texas in the early 60s, cops treated tragic accidents as tragic accidents. Crazier theories have Laura ingeniously hitting the car on purpose to kill the quarterback, who she supposedly was romantically involved with, but leave herself and her pbuttenger unhurt, which anybody who knows anything about physics and early 60s cars sees is crazy. An even nuttier variation on that is that she was actually trying to take him, her pbuttenger and herself out in some weird dissolution attempt.
