Where are you travelling to & from? That route is one of the least pleasant on the Chase. The cross roads at Penkridge Bank is not the place for the nervous driver. You need to be quite decisive as the crest of the hill in the Rugeley direction hides oncoming traffic. I may be able to suggest a better or more pleasant route for you.

It didn't have a red border at 8.30 this morning because I specifically looked at it. I travelled from Slitting Mill to Marquis Drive, then to Pye Green turning into Broadhurst Green and on to Camp Road to get to Stafford and the M6. As you turn into Broadhurst Green you pbutt an NSL sign and then a gateway with the carved 40 signs. Definately no red border on the gateway signs. The first red painted signs are on Camp road, especially near the cafe, then there are some unaltered signs followed by a few more painted ones. I suggest you take another look yourself.
Maybe. As I said, there are local activists attempting to have a blanket 40 limit mandated on all roads on the Chase except where a lower limit exists. These people are a PITA to those of us who need to travel to get to work sites. I wonder if these 40 advocates ever drive anywhere else above 40 MPH? If so why should they restrict the area they happen to live near or in to a low limit? Hypocrit seems to descibe them quite nicely.
