Comfort Braking

My IAM observer has been trying to stop me from 'comfort braking'. The problem is that I'm finding it very hard to not do it because I believe that it's a good idea.

He says that I should use acceleration sense for hazards (where possible) and not use the brakes at all. I believe the main reason for me touching the brakes is to show my brake lights. It's also useful when approaching hazards because I can stop the car very easily when I foot is already on the brake pedal.

Does anybody know what the IAM's thoughts on 'comfort braking' are? In general he seems to think I should use more acceleration sense, and less brakes. However, in the last session I ended up approaching the hazards too fast because the acceleration sense doesn't take the speed off as quick.

it's of that's sort. not In what way do my specific points about gear changing and braking include...

In the his demo drive (he's only done one) I thought that his braking was a little heavy. It was a while ago, but I suspect that he was using too much accleration sense, and then needing to brake harder. He also thought that I was braking too hard, but I would consider it to be a LOT lighter than his. On the road craft video they seem to be taught to brake very heavy too, but I suspect that's because they will be in a hurry. I will be very interested to see what happens in my mock test.
