Driver education and stricter standards will not help. People know *how* to drive now, they just don't do it. I love to watch 'em suddenly practice what they know when an LEO is present. Hey, according to some posters here the fact that they haven't hit anything or been cited qualifies them as a safe driver! Why should others be held to a higher standard than that? And most people are going to drive like idiots anyway once their exam is over and they're outta sight because that's the way their parents taught 'em. Who's gonna tell poster x his dad drove like an idiot and taught him the same. You can tell him but he's never gonna believe it.
Every poster here feels like they're a great driver and everybody else sucks, other people are the problem. I feel the same f***ing way. The difference is, I'm willing to make allowances and adjust my driving and my #1 goal is not to get from A to B in the shortest possible time. When you project the premise that you don't have the patience to endure any delay in your travel, when you drive you're in a hurry or intolerent of other, less send drivers... just about everything that comes out of your keyboard afterward is selfishness and bullpoo in my ears. -----
