It has been proven that changing the speed limit posted on the side
No it hasn't. Little if anything has ever been "proven" concerning optional human behavior. Trends and tendencies have been noted and are studied. The study you *aren't* citing could hardly be considered definitive. No credible scientist would claim he-she "proved" anything about human behavior as related to specific choice. Some people have enough sense to come in out of the rain, some people don't. That's why they use phrases such as: Our findings indicate; Results seem to suggest; Tendencies lean toward; Our interpretation is... There are no absolutes when it includes choices to be made by human beings.
Those falling into the 85th percentile of anything cannot be considered right simply because they are the majority. And your argument based on same is most probably wrong. Your buttumption that it would have a direct linear effect is merely another baseless buttumption. Nothing considering human behavior reduced to such a level of simplicity is likely to be correct. -----
