I wish I could tell whether you are kidding or not. When people see a marked cruiser, they know that they might possibly get in trouble if they are more than 10MPH over the limit at the time, but probably not. People don't think about getting away with speeding while they are behind the wheel because they don't have to. Even if a cop is around, the chances of getting ticketed for speeding are extremely low.
Conflict of Interest 3186I didn't get this reply, so I'll comment in this post... A police patrol in this context is a noun - a...
Again, the average driver doesn't pull out on the freeway, scan for cops, notice no cops and then suddenly speed up. Yet that is exactly how they would drive if they were driving as fast as they think they can get away with. People drive exactly as they always drive, unless you are around in a marked cruiser. THEN, they slow down, not because they feel they are doing anything wrong, but simply because they don't want the hbuttle of getting taxed for doing exactly what everybody (even YOU) is doing. So they slow down a bit hoping that someone else might get the tax bill. Then as soon as you are out of sight, they resume normal speed, which does NOT mean that they speed up to a speed that they think that they can get away with. It just means that they aren't thinking about you when you are out of sight, and so driving requires less thought when you aren't around. -Dave
