Today's driveI'm getting fed up with the IAM now. I felt happier about my driving before I started. I don't have as much pride now...
You say he's a prat simply because he has proved your "argument" to be groundless.
So go on... prove that there is some basis to your buttertion that Mad Ken's "Congestion" "Charge" is not a tax (and, by necessary and inescapable implication, that fuel, tobacco and alcohol taxes - and the Value Added Taxes on them - are not taxes). The basis of your thesis seems to be that a tax isn't a tax if what is taxed is a voluntary activity. What, then, in your submission, is a non-voluntary activity, the taxes paid on which, in your world, qualify as tax?
Hint: You can't include income tax (no-one is forced to earn). Hint: You can't include council tax (no-one is forced to be a householder). Hint: You can't include Value Added Tax (no-one is forced to buy anything at all). Hint: You can't include customs-excise duties (no-one is forced to buy fuel, tobacco or alcohol, let alone to import anything from outside the EEC).
But you know all that, becauyse the PP pointed it all out to you (and then some).
So in fact, in your opinion, do we have zero taxation in the UK?
