Well, he owns a square-body Mustang and a Maverick; that seems to be out of the mainstream enough that I can imagine cops being curious about his doings. Certainly the Maverick is unusual enough to be cop-bait. Look at Cory's postings as well; while you may say that he has a chip on his shoulder I'm sure a lot of it is simply a cop buttuming that a "kid" in a vintage Ford is worth checking out, simply because he's outside his expectation of a "normal" motorist.
I can say from my personal experience that cars that appear to be inexpensive attract a lot more attention from the local constabulary. I used to drive beater VW's pretty exclusively; all were purchased for under $1K. (all were in good shape mechanically and certainly didn't have any safety-related issues, but were cosmetically "OK" to "less than perfect.") Since I "upgraded" to a Porsche 944 I haven't been pulled over once - apparently even though it wasn't that expensive it looks "respectable" enough that it doesn't set off any warning bells. Certainly my new company car ('05 Impala, silver) doesn't even register on the cop-radar and probably many people imagine that it is an unmarked car. I'm also sure that any cop who isn't also a vintage car they can't afford a new one.
I imagine that when I was pulled over in my older cars the cops were probably hoping for some of the additional violations that might be common for someone from the lower socioeconomic strata, such as outstanding warrants, no proof of insurance, expired registration, etc. etc. etc... It's a sad but somewhat valid commentary on our society... but honestly at the time I didn't have the resources to buy a more expensive car; the risk of being hbuttled by the cops wasn't enough to convince me to go into debt for no real perceptible benefit (other than the lack of attention.)
Unfortunately the '44 will be hitting the 20 year mark in a couple years... we'll see if it ever becomes cop bait. I hope not; there's really no modern replacement for it available, except for maybe a Honda S2000 (which I'm sure is also cop bait, but for different reasons...)
